Tummy Time Trouble
Since Rhea was born, we have had tummy time everyday so she can spend some time on her belly. Because she sleeps on her back at night, this is important so she can strengthen her neck muscles and eventually learn how to support her weight and crawl. Well, up until yesterday, tummy time was going fine. Rhea would play with her toys while on her belly, playing with what was in front of her and reaching for what was out of her reach. She even started to kick her legs and tried a few times to push herself up and wiggle (she still has a long way to go before she moves). Well, last night and tonight, Rhea decided that she is no longer interested in being on her belly. So as soon as we would put her on her belly, she would roll back onto her back. This continued for a few minutes before she decided she didn't want to be on either her back or belly and wanted to sit up! It felt a little like a war between us and Rhea...could this be her first parental challenge? I know this practice time is still so important, so we'll keep trying and I guess we'll just have to see who is more stubborn!

My niece did this all the time. She hated to be on her belly. She would scream and scream until she managed to wiggle herself into a different position. She never really crawled either, just keep pulling herself to her feet and walked along edge of items.
Now that she can move herself from belly to back you may be experiencing your first of MANY letting go moments. The good thing (and the silver lining) is that all that flipping from belly to back will also help her get stronger!
