Yesterday we visited our friends Mark and Jenn and their 16 month old daughter Maeve, which meant playtime for the 2 babies! Seeing them side-by-side, the age gap was really obvious - Maeve is walking and running around, Rhea is just learning to sitting on her own. Maeve is starting to talk, Rhea is talking, we just can't decipher the baby talk yet! The good news is the girls didn't let the age gap stop them from having fun together. They both played on the floor with the same toys and they couldn't stop looking at each other. It was so cute!! It was Rhea's first official play date and I think she had a good time :)
She also seemed to really master sitting up on her own. Yesterday she was sitting up without support the entire time and could even reach for a few things without falling over. Eventually though she would reach too far or stop supporting herself and then she would fall over. We'll keep practicing because now that she has the hang of it, she loves sitting up!
I thought that the play date would tire Rhea out and it did - she slept the entire way home and then was in bed and asleep by 7 last night. But once again, she had a rough night - getting up every few hours. We're keeping an eye on her to make sure everything is OK and hoping she is still just adjusting to her new room and sleep schedule. We'll see how tonight goes...
