That is what you can call us these days. We are definitely functioning on less sleep than we all need. Why you might ask? I'm actually not sure...
It really started when Rhea moved to her new daycare. And it wasn't unexpected. In fact, the administrator told me her sleep habits would be off as she adjusted to this new daily ritual.
Then, Rhea got the diaper rash, cold and new teeth. None of which help her sleep. In fact, one of these alone could interfere with sleep, never mind all three!
But, now she seems to have adjusted to daycare. The teeth are in. The diaper rash is gone and the cold is better than it was last week. But, still sleep remains a tough thing in our house.
Monday night Rhea woke up at 10 pm...3 hours after going to bed. There didn't seem to be any reason for it and some snuggling and a small bottle were all Rhea needed to go back to sleep. And she slept the rest of the night peacefully.
Last night, Rhea woke up at 4 am..I gave her a bottle and she went right back to sleep until about 6:30.
Her eating has been off as well, although she is definitely full, so even though she had a bottle both times, it doesn't seem like she needs to eat more before bed. And there is no way we can keep her up later at night...last night she didn't even make it until 7. By 6:45 when I was trying to read her stories, she was literally reaching for her crib and when I put her in the crib, she didn't even move, just fell right asleep.
Part of me thinks that she needs to start self soothing again when she wakes up. We have definitely been doing that for her for a while now and maybe if we can let her work out whatever is bothering her, she won't be looking for us anymore in the middle of the night. But, it's hard to ignore her cries. We tried to give it a couple of minutes last night, but we couldn't.
Anyone with any ideas or advice before we truly turn into zombies?

I hear you on those middle-of-the-night wake ups. Taygan still wakes up and comes to our room in the middle of the night. Not all the time, but it tends to happen when something different happens in our regular routine. (like going to the Big E, or he's sick, or something scared him that day) I think just out of habit he comes to our room, because as soon as he sees one of us get up, he goes right back to his room. He doesn't even wait for us to walk him there. I tell him to go back to bed on his own, but it's hard to stay in bed when he's crying that he needs me. But he doesn't, because he's off to his room as soon as I stand up. Now we only go as far as his door, not into the room or tuck him in. It's tough to listen to them cry it out, but sometimes that's the only thing that will work and break the habit. Good luck!
