First Steps!

It's official, Rhea took her first steps tonight! We have seen it coming for a while now. She was pulling herself up a lot more. And then she was cruising everywhere - "walking" as long as she had something to hold on to. Then, over the weekend, we saw her stand up from a sitting position without holding on to anything. And we noticed she needed less and less support when she was moving around.

Then, tonight at 5:30, the three of us were sitting in her playroom playing with some toys when Rhea stood up and took 3 steps toward me. Daddy and I looked at each other and cheered and clapped. We were so excited. We must have given her the encouragement she needed because she continued to take steps throughout the night. It's like once she got that first time over with, she was ready to do it again and again.

It's funny because when I picked up Rhea from daycare today her teacher was telling me that all day they thought she was going to walk. They said she stood all day and they were doing everything they could to encourage her to take a step - moving a toy just out her reach, moving back a little so she had to move to get them. But, nothing all day. I guess she wanted to wait until she was home for this big moment. Thanks for that Rhea - we wouldn't have wanted to miss it!
