Yo Gabba Gabba!

We started trying to get Rhea interested in Yo Gabba Gabba a long time ago at the recommendation of other parents whose kids enjoyed the show. Over time, this show has really been background for Rhea, something for her to glance at and faces to be familiar with...until recently. All of a sudden, she wants to actually watch the show. In fact, she demands to watch it and all of this week, we got to enjoy this show not once, but twice.

This is how it works now...in the morning, after breakfast, but before she gets dressed, Rhea now grabs the remote control and points it at the TV, trying to turn on Yo Gabba Gabba. She's smart, but she hasn't quite figured out the DVR, so we help her by finding one of the saved episodes and playing it for her, at which point her face lights up and she starts dancing to the intro song. She then alternates between sitting and watching the show and getting up and dancing to the music!

There are certain parts that Daddy and I don't like (the super music friend show), so all along, we have fast forwarded through it. Now, when Rhea sees these parts, she instantly grabs for the remote and tries to fast forward herself!

At the end, when the characters say bye, Rhea waves bye, says bye bye for at least 2 minutes and then blows kisses to the TV screen.

Then, after we get home from daycare and Rhea eats dinner, but before playtime/bathtime/bedtime, she wants to watch another episode. So, we follow the same routine. I already have most of the songs memorized and now that we are watching the show 2x a day, I find myself singing these annoying songs throughout the day. Now that she will actually watch TV, I really think we need to try and find a couple alternative shows to watch, otherwise, I'm going to be Yo Gabba Gabba'ed out in no time!
