We had a nice Christmas. The party at Rhea's daycare on Christmas Eve was fun - it was nice to meet the other parents and best of all, Santa came and brought all of the kids gifts.
That evening, we went to Grandpa and Grandma S's house and then to Great Nana's house. Rhea seemed to be feeling good throughout the evening and enjoyed not only opening presents, but eating the yummy food that was available. Her favorite, I think was the tomatoes!
Christmas morning, Rhea woke up once again with a high fever (about 100 degrees), so before we even thought about opening gifts, we gave Rhea some Tylenol and put her in the bath. Within a couple of hours, the fever seemed to break and Rhea was ready to tear open her presents. Santa brought her a bookcase and 6 new books, the lift-the-flap kind, of course, since those are the only ones we can read right now. Mommy and Daddy gave Rhea a bathrobe for when she gets out of the tub, a new bath toy and a bunch of new clothes.
We spent Christmas day at my cousin Jeff's house. Rhea's cousin Ben was also sick, so we were surrounded by coughs and sniffles throughout the day, although both seemed to have moments where they found some energy to run and around and play with their new toys.
To say Rhea was spoiled this Christmas would be an understatement. Among the highlights of her new gifts are a new table and chair set for her playroom, a kitchen set, a baby MP3 player and her Elmo Live doll. Unfortunately, she hasn't felt good all week, so she hasn't really gotten to enjoy her new gifts too much.
Now to the not so fun part of these last few days. Rhea spent the entire day after Christmas sleeping! We had to wake her up periodically and force her to drink some juice, but other than that, she slept...all day and then went to bed on time and slept all night. Then on Saturday, she seemed a little better, but yesterday she was back to not feeling good and being really sleepy.
The worst thing has been her coughing, which has seemed to get worst every day and her off and on fever, which just wouldn't go away. This morning after listening to her cough so much she almost got sick, we took her back to the doctor's office and sure enough, she has a cold (which we knew), 2 ear infections (which were a bit of a surprise) and a cough so bad it was affecting her breathing. They had us use a nebulizer on Rhea while we were there to help her breathing and then they sent us home with one that we have to use until the cough is gone. I cannot stress how much she hated that thing. She screamed the entire time, which the nurse said helped her get the medicine in her lungs, but which made me feel like I was torturing her.
Rhea is home with Daddy today and then will be home with me tomorrow. Hopefully, she will be on the mend soon.
