B-Day Party Time!

Tomorrow is Rhea's birthday and although the day hasn't arrived yet, the celebrations have already begun. We started things on Saturday when our immediate family came over for Rhea's official b-day party. All morning we told Rhea that we were having a party for her and I think we got her so excited that she took the shortest nap she's taken in months! But, despite the lack of sleep, she had a great day.

She's at such a fun age - she gets that it's her birthday so when it came time to open presents, she was excited and was tearing into the wrapping paper. Although the flip side of being almost 2 is the short attention span: she wanted to open every toy and play with it now. We had to keep explaining that there were more gifts to open and that we would play with the toys later. And, she already showed that typical kid attitude of tossing aside the clothes and focusing on the toys! (I didn't realize it started this young!)

When it came time for the cake, we put it in front of her so people could take pictures and she started singing Happy Birthday before any of us did! It was so cute (and I think it was her way of saying, let's get this moving already!).

She stayed up an hour past her bedtime that day - her head didn't touch her pillow until after 9! She was just too excited about the day.

Yesterday, I took her to get her official 2 year portraits done. More on that later this week.

Tomorrow on her official birthday, her classmates will have a party for her and will celebrate by having cupcakes. We plan to take her out to eat at our favorite local restaurant and of course, have more cake and sing happy birthday one more time.
