Weekend Recap

The highlight of this past weekend was the weather - overnight it became summer around here, so much of this past weekend was spent outside.

• Rhea's friend Maeve came down to play with her on Saturday and after about an hour of ignoring each other, they played together very well. We stayed outside for a while, but at one point we looked at the 2 girls and there faces were flush from the heat, so we went in and cooled off. Once inside, Rhea and Maeve had fun tearing the house apart! Seriously, who knew two little kids could make such a big mess?! But, they had a good time and they helped clean up, so it ended up working out just fine.
• Memere also came out on Saturday to play with Rhea and Rhea enjoyed every minute of having her here. In fact, she asked for her the entire night after she left and all day the next day. She would say, "Memere" and then she would say, "Memere all gone." It was cute, but also a little sad. Come back and visit again soon Mom!
• On Sunday, we had a little scare when one minute Rhea was happily sitting on the porch of her little house eating a vanilla wafer cookie and the next minute she had blood coming out of her mouth!! She didn't cry at all, she was just bleeding. So, we brought her inside and with a little force managed to get a cold, wet cloth in her mouth and after a minute or 2, stop the bleeding. Rhea would not let us look in her mouth, but I think what happened is that she has some teeth coming in and the cookie must have gotten a sensitive spot on her gums causing the blood. I called her doctor's office and they came to the same conclusion. They told me if the blood stops that quick it's a good sign. Phew! But, that was still one of my most frightening moments as a mom so far - having my daughter look up at me with blood coming out of her mouth.
• All of this playing outside definitely wore Rhea out! On Saturday she actually asked me to put her down for a nap! This was definitely a first. As soon as we got upstairs and got the sleeping bag out, it took her about 1 minute to fall asleep! Then yesterday at daycare, she slept for 3 hours!!! That never, ever happens - she is a one hour napper, almost to the minute!

In between all of the outdoor fun and visits, we watched a few episodes of Mickey, still the only show she will watch. And we went to Staples to buy a new office chair and Rhea had the time of her life getting on and off all of the display chairs. I think she could have stayed there for hours! For some reason they had balloons behind the chairs, so not only could she sit in chairs, she could play with balloons! Toddler heaven!

Today is another summery day, the last one around her for a while, but unfortunately, it is too hot for the kids to play outside at school. So when I dropped her off, they told me they had some fun indoor activities planned. Even though Rhea won't be outside today, I'm sure she will still be worn out when she gets home today.
