200th Post!

Wow - this post is the 200th post on Rhea's blog! What pressure to make this milestone post a memorable one. Good thing, I have some good information to post!

Tuesday night Rhea had a doctor's appointment. While this is not news, this was the first one in a while that was just a regular old check up. No sickness to check in on, no cough keeping her up all night! Here's what we learned:

Rhea didn't gain a pound in the 3 months since her last check up! That's right, she is still 22 pounds! At 18 months, this puts her in the 20th percentile, which means she is tiny for her age. And if you watched her eat, you would never think she would weigh so little. I written about it before, but, seriously, all she does is eat. But, she is very active, so she is probably burning the calories as quick as she is taking them in. And she could just have good genes (not from me in this department. I have to work hard not to gain a pound in 3 months!). Either way, the doctor said that yes, she is tiny, but she seemed healthy, which is all that matters!

Rhea is now 31.5 inches long, which puts her in the 50th percentile. I think she seems tall, but that measurement makes it seem like she is average height for her age.

The rest of the appointment was spent checking her different body parts: ears looked good, eyes looked good, teeth are coming in and answering questions:

Is she running? Yes
Is she walking backward? Yes
Does she feed herself using a spoon? Yes, in fact, she won't let us feed her at all anymore
Does she play with other kids? Sort of...yes, she plays with other kids, but when other kids want to play with her toys, she becomes very possessive

She also had to have one shot, which I still don't enjoy. Rhea cried for a second, but then when she saw the cool crayon band-aid for her "boo boo" and got her Sesame Street sticker with Ernie on it, she forgot all about the pain!

At the end, the doctor said she was pleased with Rhea's growth and progress and then said, OK, we'll see you in September for her 2 year check-up! September - that's 6 months away! Wow, what a thought to not have multiple doctor's appointments every month. Now all we have to do is keep her healthy.
