More Teeth, Another Cold = No Sleep

To say last night was a long night would be an understatement. It started out good...we put Rhea to bed close to her usual bedtime of 7:00 and she fell right asleep without any complaining. It was like any other night until 12:30, when she woke up crying and not the fussing because she lost her binkie crying. No, this was the "I'm miserable, someone get in here now" crying. So, Billy tried sitting in her room with her and rubbing her back and comforting her while she was in her crib. When this didn't work, I went in and picked her and rocked her in her chair for a while.

It was clear that she would not be going back in her crib, so we tried to take her in bed with us...which was a HUGE mistake. She tossed and turned and punched and kicked and for 2 hours, none of us got any sleep. OK, we would start to fall asleep and then BAM! Rhea was awake again, which meant we all were awake again.

Finally, around 2:30, I threw in the towel, took Rhea downstairs and we cuddled with her on the couch for the rest of the night. We actually managed to sleep for 2 hours or so before she woke up screaming. Not crying this time, screaming. It was a very jarring way for us to get up. I managed to calm her down (with the help of Tylenol) and get her back to sleep, but by 5:30, it was clear the night was over.

The only other time she has had that bad of a night was the night before her b-day party and 2 days later she had 2 teeth pop through, so I tend to think she is teething. And she is way overdue for teeth. She has 6 teeth that are through with her 7th (this one on the bottom) having just popped through the other day, so we know it's coming, but wow!

And her cold and cough don't help. Her breathing is heavy and on a good night right now she is waking herself up coughing.

The good news is we have a follow up dr. appt this afternoon (from her ear infection), so we can make sure it isn't another infection or anything more serious. If it isn't, then we just have to keep counting down until spring arrives and this awful, sick season ends...53 days and counting!
