This was both a good and a bad weekend, all in one. Saturday was busy and fun. We started the day by going to our friend Michelle's house to pick up Rhea's belated birthday present. Rhea got her first pair of Red Sox sneakers - I say first because with her parents being who we are, Rhea is destined to wear a lot of Red Sox and Patriots gear. Rhea also got her new favorite toy - a "bug" jar where she can collect the three "bugs" that light up. This has been a huge hit since she got it and is a constant companion for Rhea right now going with her into the living room, up the stairs, into the kitchen, basically wherever she is!
When we got home, Rhea's Grandpa, Grandma and Great-Grandmom came by for a visit. Everyone had fun and Rhea was completely and totally the center of attention, which she loves...once she gets over her shy-girl moments when people first arrive.
After they left, we hopped in the car and went down to visit our cousin Jeff and his son Ben and newborn Isabel. Memere and Auntie Sandy and Uncle Ray were there visiting as well. It was a fun afternoon and Rhea and Ben played well together for the most part, despite their 2 year age difference. The highlight for Rhea - and for Ben - was swinging on the play set in the backyard. Rhea would laugh every time we pushed her swing. It was so cute! Rhea also played in Ben's push car and seemed to get a kick out of being pushed from room to room while turning the steering wheel.
The rest of the evening was uneventful - we got home without hitting any traffic and Rhea went to bed without any problems, so we were taken off guard yesterday by how sick Rhea was when she woke up. She had a fever all morning - it ranged from a high of 100.9 to 99 before the fever broke. She spent all morning in my arms sleeping. When she would wake up we would try to get her to drink some juice, drink some milk or eat something. All we could get her to eat was Yo Baby Yogurt, although she drank juice every time we tried.
Then, about 1ish, the fever broke and Rhea was herself again. Moving from room to room, playing with her toys, going up the stairs. My guess is we have another tooth coming in. She is definitely drooling and this is exactly what happened before her top teeth came in - a low fever and lack of appetite. So, we are once again on tooth watch.
The rest of the afternoon was fine - Riley, Vince and Dan came over to watch the game and Rhea was so excited to see Vince. I guess she remembers him. She played near him for a little while, although with her short attention span, she was in and out of the living room most of the time. It was funny because when Vince saw Rhea eating, he was suddenly hungry and wanted to eat. And when Rhea saw Vince's binky, she wanted her binky and even tried to steal Vince's a couple of times! And of course, if Vince picked up a toy, Rhea wanted it and vice versa. I guess that's how you play with your friend when you are 1 year and almost 8 months old!
