8 Months Old Today!

Another month has gone by and Rhea is now officially 8 months old. The biggest change over the past month has been Rhea's growing independence. Rhea rarely wants to be held for long periods of time. Instead, she now wants to be on the floor or in her pack-n-play playing with her toys. When she gets bored with whatever she is doing, she looks to us, to help guide her to whatever she wants to do next.

She is now completely in charge of her playtime. If I give her a toy and it isn't what she wants, she pushes it aside and reaches for what she wants. If she plays with a toy and gets sick of it, she throws it out of her way, so she can again, look for something more fun to play with. She also no longer wants to sit in one place and play. She is always moving - scooting toward something or reaching for the toy she wants. Even when she is in our arms now, if she sees something that catches her eye, she wiggles to try and get it. There's no more wondering what she likes and doesn't like. At 8 months, she makes sure we know.

She has become more vocal as well. In addition to the major milestone she reached this week with her first word, this morning, when she saw me, she screamed in excitement! That's the first time she has done that and it seemed to amuse her, so she let out a few screams throughout the morning! I wonder what's next...hopefully, Dada. Guess, we'll just have to see what the next month brings.
